Bizet’s Carmen – Carmen

As a preview to the summer festival, Opera Theater is

having principal singers perform a truncated production

of Carmen for student audiences. Singers will return in

the summer for the exciting the mainstage production! 

 

Interfaith Partnership for the HomelessVoices of Hope – soloist

Kara and soprano Vedrana Kalas are guests artists in

an annual fundraiser for the Interfaith Partnership

for the Homeless. All proceeds will benefit the charity.

 

 

Handel’s Samson – alto soloist

 

March 17th and 18th, 2012

 

Falmouth Chorale

Cape Cod, MA

 

Sometimes staged as an opera, Handel’s Samson is

considered one of Handel’s most dramatic oratorios.

Performed with orchestra and chorus with

professional soloists.

Troy, NY

 

The Russell Sage Choral will present a beautiful cantata

by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Written as a plea for peace,

texts include parts of the bible, the Mass,

Walt Whitman’s poetry and a political speech. Kara

will be the female soloist.

Kara is guest artist for Musician’s of Ma’alwyck’s final

concert of the season. Repertoire includes Respighi’s

Il Tramonto with string quartet. Free noon preview on

Kara will be returning to the innovative Opera Theater

to perform in an energetic, raw and up-close rendition

of Carmen. Sung in a tailor-made English translation

Moving tale about the wise men’s journey to visit

the baby Jesus, and on their way they meet a very special

little boy. Suitable for all ages!

Kara is returning to UAOT to portray the role of the

Cinderella’s hilarious step-sister in Rossini’s fairytale opera.

Originally written as a ballet piece, Les Noces,

meaning “The Wedding”, is orchestrated for chorus,

soloists, percussion and 4 pianos. It will be performed

in it’s original Russian with the Williams Concert

Choir and Percussion Ensemble.
